Vostok SOS provided assistance with shelter equipment worth over UAH 1,400,000 in 11 educational institutions.

Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, there have been more than 27,294 air raid alerts. Ukrainian children are already adjusted to learning in the new reality of war, but the arrangement of shelters for schools has become a significant challenge for Ukrainian education.

Vostok SOS purchased and delivered soft mats, beanbags, water barrels, projectors, screens, chairs, and thermopots to educational institutions to create a comfortable environment for children sheltered during air raids.
The general list of goods received by educational institutions as charitable aid is as follows:

  • Black Frame Conference Chair With Plastic Writing Tablet: 605 units,
  • Soft sports mat: 45 units,
  • Beanbag chair (soft pouf): 100 units,
  • Set of projector and screen on a tripod: 11 units,
  • Thermopot made of stainless steel with overheating protection function: 23 units,
  • Water container (50 liters): 7 units.

Hanna Khmil, principal of Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium №49, says that the assistance provided helps to organize a comfortable educational process in the shelter:

“We received new chairs and multimedia equipment, which will help us to accommodate pupils of grades 2-3 and continue education during air raids. And most importantly, our lessons will not stop during a power outage, as we have received a charging station”.

Liudmyla Koroliova, principal of the Mriia Primary School in Zaporizhzhia, believes that the assistance will help teachers to immerse children in learning:

“Every Ukrainian child has the right to a quality education and has the potential to achieve great success in the future. Thanks to the charitable assistance, we have created a safe, educational environment for students during the air raids”.

Yuliia Zimbalevska, principal of Pryluky Secondary School, emphasizes that charitable assistance helps to ensure access to quality education even in the shelter. “The new equipment will be used in the shelter, and children will be able to stay there in comfortable and safe conditions. This is important for students, teachers, and parents”.

Vostok SOS has been providing comprehensive support to Ukrainian teachers and educational institutions since 2014.

The charitable assistance was provided as part of the project “Assistance to the war-affected population in Ukraine in winter conditions” with the financial support of the Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.
